Ways to improve your digestion without changing your diet!


Do you suffer from reflux, indigestion or bloating? These are very common symptoms of bad digestive processes. Sometimes it may be deeper with food intolerances and other digestive conditions. However, there are some simple things you can do today without changing your diet that can reduce these symptoms significantly.

1) Apple cider vinegar in warm water
Each morning when you wake up, drink a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in half a glass of warm or room temperature water. This will help to kick-start your digestion for the day! You can also try it with lemon juice.

2) Smell your food
Before eating, smell your food. This will send signals to your stomach that you are about to eat, preparing it for the food. This ensures that your stomach acid is secreted at the right time, reducing reflux, indigestion and burping.

3) Eat something bitter before meals
The bitter or sour taste produces saliva and begins your digestive process. It can also trigger your hunger signal. If you don’t eat when you are hungry your body is not ready to digest. So chew on some rocket, or fennel seeds 10 to 15 minutes before a meal to prepare your system.

4) Chew your food
Often when we are rushing to eat we don’t chew our food. Chewing helps to start the digestive process and give less work for the stomach to break down the food. It also, like smelling your food sends signals to the rest of your digestive system that you are eating. This will reduce bloating and reflux!

5) Relax
Stress tells your body you are in a life or death situation and that digestion and other processes can wait. Doing some deep breathing and taking your time to prepare your meal signals to the body that you are relaxed and ready to eat.
